subLingual

is a graphic experiment with the bulgarian (cyrillic) alphabet, started in 2016 and since then evolving every year in a new alphabet, reflecting the contemporary landscape of bulgarian language and culture.

"It's primarily a game. A game of transformation and juggling with letters, words and symbols. This pictorial approach perceives language and its graphic equivalent as a piece of clay that our brain squishes like a fist, giving it different, unexpected shapes. It is an evolving project over time. It looks that way here and today, and even I have no idea what it will look like tomorrow. Its purpose is only to remind us that our imagination is what distinguishes us as a rational species, and it should never feel comfortable. The imagination must be constantly disturbed."
